2009-2010 AWARDS PRESENTATION
A super night of reports and awards for all the kids. Over 100 were there to applaud the efforts of the teams, players, managers, coaches and volunteers. Praise was made of the success and efforts of the boys and the 10 Rovers players who represented South Shropshire in the various interleague teams. The audience was impressed to hear how the U7/U8s had been successful against the older teams in their league some of which were fielding older development centre players too.

The U10s season had been highlighted by the unbeaten run up to Christmas and incredibly close performances against Ludlow (who won all 3 competitions) with the Rovers boys the only team capable of beating them. The U11s celebrated league and cup runner-up, a cup win and more recently winning the Prees 7s tournament. U12 & U13s had a very enjoyable season with notable improvement and a very heavy late schedule catching up on postponed games.

The Chairman was pleased with the number of new players across all ages wanting to join the club (and this despite no promotional activity for over 12 months)!

Special Awards went to:-

Commitment Most Improved Player of Season
U10s Jack Pritchard
/Mark Pepper
William Ridge Cameron Wildblood
U11s Jack Davies Sam Morgan Alex Hearle/
Connor Leask
U12s Greg Chadwick Tom Pratt Emerson Morgan
U13s Ben Basnett Sam Bodza Jake Baines

The Chairmans Special Award went to Mike Basnett for his great work that has kept 20 U12/U13 players keen to continue week-after-week regardless of results. All coaches/managers were presented with special plaques in thanks for the loyalty and effort put in over the last 3 seasons in particular.

Thanks to everyone for such a great turnout, it made us all proud to see how many children we are providing sporting opportunities for. It was great to see not only so many smiling children but also so many smiling parents. If you were one of the few who didn't make it then please contact your manager to arrange collection of your trophy.

BUSINESS AS USUAL
Following several months of detailed talks between Red Rovers & Magpies about setting up a new, single, junior football club in Church Stretton it was a black & white case of no go following the decision at the Magpies EGM on Sunday 27th June! Despite earlier indications that it was a route worth pursuing it is not going any further for the time being. So it's business as usual for Red Rovers as we set about ensuring football for all players next season. Expect your membership and league registration forms soon - please return them quickly!
