About Stretton Red Rovers

"Welcome to
Stretton Red Rovers
Football Club"
Best Foot Forward

Stretton Red Rovers Football Club was founded in late 2004 to provide football matchplay opportunities for children in the locality of The Strettons who may have missed the chance with other teams. The club has grown in size and stature and is now the first choice for many new players and parents.

What We Do
Stretton Stretton Red Rovers is a 'family like' football club designed to fill a gap in the provision of matchplay opportunities in the locality of Church Stretton.
We run a training session on Tuesdays, straight after school, from 3.30-5.00pm for Under 8s-Under 10s, and Fridays 6.00-7.30pm for Under 11s-Under 14s (September-May inc) and Summer Soccer Sessions (open to all) on Wednesdays during June/July from 6.00-7.30pm.

We are currently running several sides and look set to continue next season with the following teams depending on popularity and availability (other options may be considered):-

Children need to be UNDER the age specified on September 1st each season. e.g. 13th birthday on Sept 2nd = U13; 13th birthday on August 30th = U14.

We are always looking to expand our numbers and accept new members/ players to run sides according to demand and suitable supply of help (e.g. girls teams). We will continue to pursue friendly matches, entry into local leagues and cup tournaments to give our members continued opportunities of receiving coaching and playing in football matches. How We Do It
Our philosophy is to create match playing opportunities for those who might otherwise go without that experience. We want to give everyone a chance to develop their skills and experience - not just rely on a gifted few! This is why we ensure ALL players have a chance to play, whatever their standard. No one gets left out and pitch time is shared with everyone. Our approach rewards commitment - anyone available to play and committed to the team will be involved in the matches played wherever possible. Back to Top

Parent Involvement
Parents are an essential element of the football club. The club is run by a committee of volunteer parents who are elected annually at the AGM in May. All member players are represented by parents at the AGM and are encouraged to become involved in the running of the club. Help with transport to away matches, encouraging attendance at training, help at coaching sessions or managing a team, helping with events, joining committee, fundraising and sponsorship, supporting matches, furthering the club and its interests etc. are all ways you can help. Without your help we cannot achieve all that we would like to so please step forward and volunteer. Back to Top

Information
We pride ourselves on our communications with members/parents using this website as the main tool. Parents regularly check the site for news updates - those that are not internet enabled are contacted via conventional means.
We place the onus on the parents to ensure they check for updates rather than relying on us to contact all of them individually.

The website also contains a Members Only area which is password protected allowing us to display private information, player profiles and photos. Back to Top

Costs/Fees
In addition to guaranteeing matchplay experience we only charge a fee for each match played (currently £1 per player per match) a 'pay as you play' system. There is also a one-off annual fee of £10 per player which covers registration with the club; relevant league; and also the Shropshire FA and contributes towards insurance too. Registering in June also entitles the player FREE entry to our exclusive Summer Soccer Sessions. Back to Top
